Readers find themselves in a menagerie of lizards, hummingbirds, owls, bobcats, dolphins, cats, dogs, and Unicorns. Oh yes, the Unicorn seems ever so important to this collection. Moves past hipster chic and attempts to explore the "human condition" in a rather offbeat way. Pain. Lots of pain that develops as part of fantastical diary entries. Innocence and forced naivete create vulnerable and engaging characters. The equivalent to those designer plush toys from specialty toy stores.
